Jonathan Myrenberg
Position(s): Defence Realistic Potential Rating (1-10): 4.0D Draft Year: 2021

Fantasy Summary

A puck-moving, right-shot defender, with a solid frame and an offensive mindset.

Observations

June 2025 – Myrenberg became a free agent after he and the Boston Bruins were not able to come to terms on a contract. The towering young defender played only 18 games for Linkoping in the SHL in 2024-2025 due to injury, and provided zero points. Myrenberg was viewed as a promising member of the Bruins’ stable up until this point, and now we will wait to see if Myrenberg remains in Sweden, or finds another NHL organization he feels he has a clearer path to the show with. Alex Wyatt

March 2022 – It is not often that an 18-year-old jumps up to take on the SHL, especially as a defender. However, in his draft+1 season, that is just what Myrenburg has done. Already quite physically mature, he has jumped back and forth from the J20 National and the SHL, respectively, all season. Understandably, he has yet to contribute any points at the top level as a bottom-pairing rearguard. However, it is against the J20 competition that he is feasting, currently sitting fourth among defenders with 30 points (8G + 22A) through 33 matches. With offense naturally taken care of, Myrenberg will use the next few seasons developing his defensive game overseas. Dave Hall

September 2021 – The Canucks drafted Jonathan Myrenberg in the fifth round, 140th overall. The 6-foot-2 Swede brings an offensive mind and is a strong puck-moving defender. He moves well and enjoys putting himself into the o-zone play. Dave Hall
