Playoff Post-Mortem, Minnesota Wild

2022-05-02

Series Summary

This series didn’t see a home team drop a game until the Ducks closed out the series in Minnesota in game 6 in overtime. This was a close fought series that ultimately went the way of the Ducks.

Who Showed Up

Jonathan Drouin (2G / 3A) led the team in scoring, while Mikhail Sergachev and the Tkachuk brothers each chipped in with 4 points of their own.

Who Didn’t

Two different Jake Allens showed up to this series for the Wild. At home, Allen posted a 0.974 save percentage and could have won the series for the Wild. However, on the road, Allen posted a 0.854 save percentage and lost all three of his starts.

Offseason Preview: UFA

Paul Byron is the highest paid UFA for the Wild, and at 33 it seems unlikely he’ll be their choice for their resign slot. Likely, that cap money will instead be dedicated to RFA deals for Brady Tkachuk and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Offseason Preview: Entry Draft

Minnesota owns two 1sts, their own and Buffalo’s, and then doesn’t pick again until the 4th round. Their own pick will be in the late teens, while Buffalo’s will fall in the late twenties.
