Western Quarterfinal Nightly Recap

2022-04-27

Western Quarterfinal

Anaheim Ducks - 1 @ Minnesota Wild - 4

  • Series tied 2-2

It was only a matter of time before Sidney Crosby got his name on the scoresheet.

Crosby's first(!) goal of the series tied the game at 1-1 in the second period. That seemed to spark the rest of the Wild line-up as they went on to put three more past Anaheim starter Tristan Jarry for a 4-1 win.

So far, the home team has won every game of the series.

Edmonton Oilers - 4 @ Arizona Coyotes - 2

  • Series tied 2-2

Edmonton took control in the third and the trend of alternating wins continued as the Oilers tied the series at 2.

Edmonton went 2/3 on the PP, but it was Tomas Hertl with his third goal of the playoffs that won the game. After a huge save by Saros on Rickard Rakell, the Oilers quickly turned the puck back up the ice. Evander Kane was stymied by Hellebuyck twice but was unable to control the rebound and Hertl followed up on the puck after his own shot was blocked by Oleksiak and bulged the twine.

Winnipeg Jets - 4 @ Dallas Stars - 3 (OT)

  • Series tied 2-2

The Stars were a period away from taking a 3-1 series lead, but fortunately for the Jets there was still 20 minutes left.

After going scoreless in the first, Dallas pumped home three goals, along with a Elias Lindholm tally for Winnipeg, to make the score 3-1. Mikko Rantanen and Kyle Connor scored in the third 1:30 apart to quiet a soldout American Airlines Center and send the game to overtime.

Vincent Trochek had the OT winner after winning the draw and banging home the puck off the end boards from a missed shot by Rantanen.

Alex Edler left the game at the end of the 2nd with a foot injury and will miss at least the rest of this series.

Nashville Predators - 3 @ Colorado Avalanche - 2

  • Colorado leads series 3 - 1

Nashville are heading back home after they were able to stave off elimination with a 3-2 victory over in Denver.

The Avalanche used a two goal outburst in the third and Carter Hart turned in series saving perfomance. Hart was huge, especially in the third when he stopped 14 shots,

Kevin Fiala tied the game a mere 17 seconds into the third and savvy vet Nick Backstrom chose an opportune time to score his first goal when he wristed home the game winner.
