Western Quarterfinal Nightly Recap

2022-04-25

Western Quarterfinal

Anaheim Ducks - 0 @ Minnesota Wild - 2

  • Anaheim leads series 2-1

Minnesota's big guns were kept quiet again, but it didn't matter as they found a way to win on home ice and get back into this series.

Mike Hardman scored the only two goals of the game, his first two points of the series, and Jake Allen slammed the door (25 saves) against a Ducks team that had put 8 goals past him over the last two games.

Wild's regular season leading scorer Sidney Crosby still remains without a point in the series.

Arizona Coyotes - 2 @ Edmonton Oilers - 1

  • Arizona leads series 2-1

Fortunately, this isn't the NHL so fans actually turned up to watch the Coyotes take down the Oilers and take a 2-1 series lead.

The game saw the two teams tied at 0-0 going into the third period before Arizona threw everything they had at Game 2 hero Juuse Saros, putting more shots on him in the period (19) than they had during the entire game up to that point (15).

Vlad Tarasenko fired home the winner just 20 seconds after Conor Sheary had redirected a puck in the net for a 1-0 lead. Alex Kilorn had the lone goal for Edmonton.

Dallas Stars - 3 @ Winnipeg Jets - 0

  • Dallas leads series 2-1

Dallas' ability to shut down Winnipeg, the best team during the regular season, continued in Game 3.

Kyle Okposo provided the only offense the Stars would need by scoring his first goal of the series in the first period. Kirill Kaprizov and Blake Coleman would go on to add insurance markers during the second and Chris Driedger was perfect in stopping all 27 shots he faced on the night.

Dallas had a goal overturned early in the second when replays showed that Kaprizov had swatted the puck into the et with his hand.

Colorado Avalanche - 3 @ Nashville Predators - 2 (OT)

  • Colorado leads series 3-0

With the amount of overtime Nashville played during the regular season, their experience had them as favourites in this one. Colorado had different ideas

Rookie sensation Lucas Raymond is showing experience far beyond his years. In overtime, he collected his own rebound and fired home the game winner. He also had the primary on Filip Forsberg's opening goal and scored in the third period that temporarily had the Av's up 2-1.

After Nashville killed off an Ivan Provorov penalty late in third, Josh Bailey used the momentum to score the equaliser with 1:15 left to play and force overtime.
