Dallas Stars Incoming Rookie Class
2026-06-30F Hunter St Martin
Age: 21
Team: Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)
St. Martin was selected as an overager in 2025 and within a year is already signing his ELC to join the team. He’ll likely need a couple years of seasoning in the farm before being ready to contribute to the pro team, but the Stars are excited in what they have. HSM has a real shot at being a bottom 6 contributor to the Stars, where they are short on young, long term pieces right now.
D Finn Harding
Age: 21
Team: Brampton Steelheads (OHL)
Harding is another 2025 overager selection where Dallas is already reaping the benefits of seeing him sign his ELC and join the farm. It may take a few seasons with the Texas farm team for Harding to emerge, but he looks like one of the team’s best candidates to earn minutes on the bottom pair in the coming years. Fun fact: he shares a name with an adult film star, so be careful on those Google searches until he’s better factored into SEO.
D Otto Salin
Age: 22
Team: TPS (Liiga)
In his first full season with TPS competing against men, Salin put up intriguing numbers for such a young defenseman. He potted 8 Goals and dished 20 Assists over 56 games with the club. He’ll likely see significant minutes with the Texas Stars in the coming years, and if he’s able to make a jump, could have a future as a #4/5 defenseman.
F Owen McLaughlin
Age: 23
Team: Boston University (NCAA)
Although some of his prospect shine has worn off after a somewhat disappointing NCAA campaign across North Dakota and BU, there looks to be a future in this organization for McLaughlin. He’ll need to fight for ice time in Texas, but don’t count him out down the line as a future call-up option for Dallas.
F Matteo Costantini
Age: 23
Team: Western Michigan (NCAA)
Though Costantini was originally drafted in 2020, the Stars have had their eye on him for a long time. They finally brought him over to the organization by trade last offseason and will now get a chance to see him suit up in green and black. Given his age and work ethic, the team hopes to see him competing for bottom six minutes within a season or two.
D Stevie Leskovar
Age: 21
Team: Brampton Steelheads (OHL)
Leskovar came over to Dallas in what was essentially a trade dump last season, but the Stars see enough in him to give him a shot on a 2 year entry level contract. He’s known for his rugged, physical play thanks to his 6’3” and 216 pound frame. Although his offensive upside is low, he could be a great bottom pair option with the right development over the next few seasons.
The Unsigned:
The trio of F Aaron Huglen, D Mike Koster, and D Jack Bar are all unlikely to be offered entry level contracts by the Dallas Stars. Huglen and Koster were both picked by the Stars way back in the 2019 RHL entry draft, and now aged 25 after 4 year college careers, both face blockers on their path to the pros. Huglen’s injury struggles have been extensive and impacted his trajectory significantly. Koster never grew past 5’10” and lacks the elite elements to his game to make up for it. Finally, Bar was well-respected and team Captain at Harvard but brains only get you so far in the RHL. With so many other young defensemen signing ELCs or already in the system, it was hard to see Bar fitting into the depth chart.
