Pavel Buchnevich Signs Monster Deal With Hawks

2025-08-05

The Chicago Blackhawks made a Big Splash to start the 1st day of Free Agency Signings in the RHL!

The Hawks Signed Pavel Buchnevich to a 6 year, $10,000,000 contract, along with a $16,000,000  Signing Bonus and a NTC.  Making him the biggest Free Agent Signing they have had under GM Schurman.

Buchnevich was viewed as the best Free Agent Forward out there!

"He is a solid 2 way player, lots of skill, speed, great shot!  He's a 1st line player all the way and we really needed a top line player.  He's only 30.  He's in his prime!  We had acquired him at trade deadline last year, so we knew what we were getting.  We were really happy with his results during his time in Chicago. He was almost a point per game player.  If that continues, this will be a good deal for us!  We are really happy to have him in Windy City for the next 6 Seasons!"    Says Schurman.

"I'm really happy to be here, love the city, the fans.   I wanna come here and help this team make the playoffs every year, and compete for the Stanley Cup!  I was part of the 1st round last year with this team.  Didn't end the way we wanted it too.  The team has a great goaltender, and a solid defensive core.  Decent Set of fowards to make this team a playoff one!"  Says Buchnevich.

Having accumulated money from the past 2 seasons. The hawks had a lot of money saved up to be used for Signing Bonus.

"Felt like this was a time to use up some of that money.  We were one of the top teams with a lot of money to spend as SB money. Happy to spend it on a player we really wanted."

Buchnevich is now slated to start on a line with Drouin and Lundell.
