Blackhawks Deadline Additions!

2025-03-10

The Chicago Blackhawks have been busy the on the last day of the trade deadline.

"I was sitting around having my coffee, knowing there were a couple guys I wanted to go after. Vegas was in talks with us about Walman the day prior, so we wanted to try and wrap things up there, and we were able to agree on a trade that both sides are happy with"  Says Schurman.

"Max Jones is a physical forward with some speed, felt like a change in the bottom line or a guy that would be the next to rotate in.  A bit better depth there will be nice to have"

The Hawks dealt the CHI 1st 2025, CHI 2nd 2025 for Jake Walman, VGK 4th 2026.

Hawks dealt the CHI 6th 2025 for Max Jones.

"Walman has a great cheap contract with 2 years left, but the plan is to extend him to a long term deal when time comes.  He's a top 4 d man, that can move the puck quick, is fast, and is a solid 2 way defender.  The D in Chicago is pretty set for the next few years."

"Realizing I moved most of my picks in this years draft, I started to look around to see if I wanted a rental with the remaining 3rd and 7th rounder in 2025.   There were a few options I was considering, and in the end we went with moving the picks to Carolina for UFA Pavel Buchnevich.  He's a 1st or 2nd line forward that can really shoot the puck.  We needed more scoring up front and we achieved that with bringing Skinner in a month ago and now Buch.  He should be a great for us the rest of this season and playoffs"

The Hawks currently sit 3rd in their Division with 75 Points.  5 points up on the last wild card spot, but only 4 points behind 2nd in the Division.  This is how the team will look heading into the playoff push and rest of the season.
