Hawks Season Update

2025-02-17

Its been a Failry quiet Season for the Hawks.   GM Schurman has been sitting back assessing his team.  "We are a playoff team but are we a contending team?  We would like to think that once you make the playoffs anything can happen.   We can all gel and play great hockey when it matters the most.  (playoff time) We have some vets here that are soon to have there contracts expire within a couple seaosns.  This is my 2nd season here, and we are doing better then I anticipated for the 2nd season in a row.  Finding the right lines and chemsitry between the players has helped.  Why not alot of moves have been made, and we still wanna keep our youth in the organization, as we feel we need more of that and don't wanna loose any."

"However we found a move to bring in Jeff Skinner as a rental for the rest of the year.  Moving him to the 2nd line Winger spot and bumping Corey Perry down to the 3rd line.  Should give us an offensive player that we were missing all year for that 2nd line."

The Hawks are Sitting 3rd in their Division with 69 points, 5 points back of 2nd with 2 games in hand.  27 games are left as we sit during the RHL All Star Break.  Evan Bouchard leads the team with 61 Points. He recently represented Chicago and was in this years RHL All Star Game.    The Hawks have a new Starter this season in Adin Hill and he has been a nice surprise and looks like the Hawks have found a Starting Goalie for the a few more season.  He has 23 Wins, .910 Save Percentage along with a 2.66 GAA.  Drouin is having a great year with his linemates Lundell and E.Kane.   Drouin leads his team with 25 Goals.  The 2nd line that mainly featured Strome and Novak have been fairly good.  Both Players are a plus 16 and anyone on that line doesn't seem to hurt them.  Hoping Skinner will come in and provide more offense and Perry getting bumped to a 3rd line seems like a good fit with Cizikas and Hayton.

Defencemen Illya Lyubushkin has been hurt for a while, but soon will make his return.  Ben Hutton has filled the void on the bottom pairing, but the team will get a boost when the get Lyubushkin back in.  He's been a great Defensive D man for the Hawks.  He was a good signing for the club as he is a plus 9.  47 Shot blocks and 22  Takeaways in 43 games.
