2nd RHL FARM STARS ALL-STAR GAME

2024-02-04

It's All-Star weekend and for the second year in a row, the RHL Farm League All-Star Game will be held.

There are a few differences from last year, however. The games format will repeat that of last year, which saw the East and West divisions face off againt one another with the winner of each meeting in the final. That game saw the Pacific Division crowned as the inauguaral champions with an 8-5 win over the Atlantic. Dominic Toninato was delcared the MVP after notching a hat trick in the losing effort.

This year, instead of teams being divided by division, each squad will have a captain named and draft their teams afterwards. Then, teams will be randomly drawn to determine which teams will face-off with each other in the semi-final. The winners of each will again battle in the All-Star Game Final.

A new additon to the festivities will be the inclusion of a skills competition. The events will be fan favourites: "Cheetos" Fastest Skater, "Kansasland Tire & Service" Shooting Accuracy, "ISIS" Hardest Shot, and the "2 Pad Stack" Breakaway Challenge.

For the inaugural skills comp, there will be no prize awarded. It will just be a platform for the chosen participants to show off for the fans. The money from the sponsors will be donated to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC). There mission is to "provide leadership in preventing and responding to sexual violence through collaborating, sharing and creating resources, and promoting research."

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Location: Tucson Convention Center Arena

Returning participants: Jake Christiansen (TOR), Nathan Walker (COL)

Each team will have at least one representative at the game, and no more than two.

The rules for the skills competitions are pretty straightforward. The breakaway challenge will see goalies face the entire lineup of a selected team. If a save a made is on the last skater, the players will continue taking breakaways until the save streak is ended. The goalie with the most saves at the end of the competition will be declared the winner.
