Where in the World Juniors are your favorite prospects?

2023-12-26

Hey all,

It's my favorite time of year, WJC time. As per normal, I have looked at every roster in the WJC and broken down which RHL team has the most representatives (I'll do the same for the STHL and KPHL as well).

St. Louis, Vancouver, and our favorite team of Vegas lead the way with 7, 6, and 6 prospects respectively.

St. Louis came in with an impressive 6 picks from the first 2 rounds. The Blues have 4 first rounders (Nazar, Smith, Lekkermaki, Mateychuk (pictured below, purely for his picture when I was googling prospects)) and 2 second rounders (Brindley, Gajan)

Vancouver has 3 first rounders (Bystedt, Lindstein, Mesar) and 2 second rounders (Nelson, Minten)

Vegas has 1 first rounder (Gauthier) and 2 second rounders (Augustine, Misiak)

There is one team left with 0 WJC prospects: The New York Rangers. With no firsts this year (actually their only pick next year is a 6th rounder)

Undrafted by RHL but drafted by NHL teams and in WJC:

GER   Norwin Panocha D BUF
FIN   Kalle Kangas D PIT
FIN   Oiva Keskinen C CBJ
CZE C Jiri Kulich C BUF

Drafted by us and is in the WJC but not drafted in the NHL:

SWE   Hugo Hävelid G   SEA (RHL)
