Hawks 2023 Draft recap

The Chickago Blackhawks drafted 10 players in the 2023 RHL Entry Draft.   With a deep Draft, GM Schurman was very pleased with the players added to the Franchise, as the club Needs to do some good drafting to turn this franchise around into a Winner! Its gonna take a few seasons to get there, but there is a plan in place to get back to being a top competitive team.  Here are the players the Hawks have drafted and a summary of what each player can hopefully bring to this franchise in the future.

 

Oliver Moore - C - 8.0B:   A Great Skater, One of the best in the 2023 Class.  Smooth hands and is drawing Comparisons to Dylan Larkin.  Potential to be a 1st line Player.

Maxim Strbak -D - 7.5C:  Strbak is a good skater with great patience.  A top defensive d man, with the potential to be a solid 2nd Paring D man.

Tanner Molendyk - D - 7.5B: A strong two-way defenseman despite not being the biggest defender. He has excellent skating ability and strong work ethic. Molendyk’s edge work is very and projects to be a 2nd Pairing d Man.

Nico Myatovic - LW - 7.5C - Projected to be a middle six winger with big size and tools to become a power foward. Has very good Speed and quickness, good on PK.

Coulson Pitre - RW - 7.5C - Has good size, and has a high hockey IQ. Projected to be a 2nd line forward or good 3rd line Foward.

Alex Pharand - RW/C- 6.5B: Plays a straight-forward, disciplined game: Great Backchecker and plays a phsical game.  Good Defensive player with a a high hockey IQ. Projects to be a 2nd line Foward. 

Patrick Thomas - C - 7.0C: - High Hockey IQ and a great 2 way game and still being able to maintain a strong offensive input, Projects to be a top 9 Foward.

Zeb Forsfjall - LW - 6.5B: Forsfjall projects to be a middle-six, two-way forward who can fit into any team’s power play and penalty kill unit. Gets comparisons to  Philip Danault.

Matthew Mayich - D - 7.0C:  Great work ethic.  Projects to be a solid Bottom Pairing D man, with a potential to maybe turn into a top 4 D man.  

Kaden Hammell - D - 6.5B: Off his inside edges, he evades pressure while handling the puck and looking for options. He hooks pucks around sticks and slips them under, turning the opposition’s forecheck on its head.  Porjects to be a bottom Paing Defender.
