Prospect Development Camp getting under way mid-draft

2023-07-07

Good afternoon from Vegas's prospect development camp, sponsored by MGM Grand where we always enjoy rolling the dice... at the craps table and on prospects.

As the prospects check in to their rooms before their first drills tomorrow morning, we'd like to take a retrospective on the off-season and some of the prospects that have made significant moves, headlined by deals including Rutger McGroarty and Jackson Hallum in addition to draft picks Trey Augustine and Martin Misiak. It is a rather muted scene here because those that are able to attend are all new to the organization or don't speak English. I'm hearing trust falls and Swedish as a second language classes will be what the coaching staff starts with tomorrow before actually hitting the ice.

Unfortunately, due to NCAA regulations, nearly none of Vegas's top prospects will be able to attend camp with Cutter Gauthier, Trey Augustine, Jackson Hallum, and Rutger McGroarty will not be making it. With their lighter attendance from real prospects, other recent additions after a 4th round spending spree like Noah Gregor, Brandon Duhaime, Oskar Sundqvist, Connor Clifton, Mason Appleton, Niko Mikkola, Alex Alexeyev, Brett Murray, and most importantly Ivan Provorov will get to work learning the system Vegas intends to play this year as they await the arrival of an overpaid goalie from free agency to round out their roster. I would share what that system is but it's pretty obvious the plan is to score more goals than they let up, using 82 1-0 games to advance to the playoffs. We look forward to many boring, defensive minded games as we head to the future. As always, Vegas is always open for business.

Xoxo,
Guy
