offseason part 1

          After a disastrous season were the Flames finished with 59 pts ,the team were awarded with the 3 ovr pick at the lottery draft.The fans were pretty excited at the possibility to get a player like michkov , carlsson or smith on their team but Gm Boud had other plans. The flames made a deal with the st-louis blues  and traded the 3rd ov pick , their 1st rnd pick in 24 top ten protected and st-louis 4th rnd pick in exchange of the 9th ov pick , cole perfetti , brennan othman and emil andrea. After the trade gm Boud felt he needed to add some vetern leadership and talent to surround the young players coming in the lineup this year . The Flames acquired veteran defenceman mattias ekholm rights and signed him to a 4 years 6,2m deal . The Flames also acquired c/rw Kevin Hayes for filip kurshev , jmieson rees and prospect dans locmelis. The Flames also made a suprise move by trading kailer yamamoto for denis gurianov and a 2nd rnd pick in 24. 

         On draft day Boud struck again by trading the 9th ov pick and a 2nd rnd pick for the 6th ov pick , fans got excited again. With the 6th ov pick the Flames selected Ryan leonard a gifted offensive player who style of play compares to matthew ktatchuk. With the 34th pick the Flames selected a big right winger Kasper Halttunen from Finland . Halttunen is listed at 6f3 207lbs and he can score goals . With the 57th pick the Flames drafted  Hunter Brzustewicz from the kitchener Rangers in the OHL  Brzustewicz is a offensive  minded defenceman.

One of the main problem the Flames had when Boud took over as gm is that they didnt have much prospect in their system to work with. Gm Boudreu feels that after this draft the tem will be well positioned to start moving forward to build a competitive team for next season. The Flames expects a few prospects to make the team this year mctavish , johnson , guhle and slafkovsky are expected to make the big club  heres the projected lines so far .
