Three Quarters Through The Quacking

2023-05-27

The Anaheim Ducks have been having the most quacktastic playoffs thus far. Reporter Jay “VideoJ” Roc has a recap of just how they dominated the first three rounds, on route to being the Western Conference champions.

Round 1 The Flying V Vs. The Swimming Teeth

Short time rivals the San Jose Sharks and their GM BRRR squeaked into the playoffs, nearly missing after their average performances, going 8-8 in their final 16 games. In the regular season, the Sharks ruffled the feathers of the Ducks, beating them 3 games to 1. The new look Ducks looked to be too much for the Sharks to handle. Trade deadline acquisition Alex Debrincat had 7 goals and 1 assist through 5 games. Seems like GM VideoJ’s blockbuster deal was the right move, propelling Anaheim into the 2nd round. Outscoring San Jose 16-9, and the Sharks’ lone win being in overtime, the Ducks seemed to have little reason to sweat in the first round.

Round 2 Feathered Tails Vs. Crowned Heads

Escaping the jaws of the sharks, Anaheim moved onto the second round, facing GM Notor and the Los Angeles Kings. A battle of teams just 48 Kilometers (30 miles for the Americans) apart, was sure to heat up. While Anaheim had the advantage in the regular season, winning two games to one, the Kings did manage to beat the Ducks during the last game of the regular season. Luckily for the Ducks, they had been flying high, coming off a devastation of the Sharks and had some well-deserved days of partying in SoCal. If Anaheim was going to take down the Kings, they were going to have to shut down the duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. During Anaheim’s first 2 home games, they did just that, limiting the duo to a mere 2 assists. Overall they combined for 15 points, and Anaheim fought fire with fire, having their top duo of Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand combining for the exact same amount. Oh and another trade deadline acquisition Erik Gustafsson quietly racked up 3 assists during the series. With the series tied 3-3, game 7 came back to Anaheim and the Ducks showed why they were the division leader, dethroning the Kings 5-1. Looks like the Anaheim Ducks are the true kings of California

Round 3 Feathered Wings Vs. Metal Wings

In the Western Conference Finals, the Ducks flew North to Winnipeg to take on RBK and the Jets. The Winnipeg Jets were the unlikeliest of rivals to meet the Ducks in the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals. They limped into the playoffs, after a blockbuster trade to bolster their team at the trade deadline saw them go on a losing streak. The Ducks gave Winnipeg the benefit of the doubt, but from the moment the puck dropped on the ice, Anaheim was unrelenting. The Ducks steamrolled a Winnipeg team that seemed unfit for the playoffs, let alone the Conference Finals. Outscoring the Jets 17-9, Anaheim put together a full team effort to dismantle the Jets. GM VideoJ was also happy with Max Domi’s performance in the series, including his two goal effort in game two. He hopes to continue to see Domi’s presence felt, as they brought him in to add some depth scoring touch. It was a clean sweep up of RBK and his Jets, winning 4 straight games. Quack Quack Quack!
