Deadline Ducks - March 1st Edition

2023-03-06

Why The Anaheim Ducks will Win The Cup

Good evening. Or afternoon. Or morning. I suppose it depends on what time zone you’re in. Currently from New Zealand, the land of Middle Earth, GM VideoJ has been working the phones as the trade deadline looms. While several tires have been kicked, and deals discussed, it seems as though there will be no trade made for the Anaheim Ducks. And while the organization was hoping for a transaction in order to make a playoff push, here are the reasons as to why it is unnecessary.

1). Anaheim currently sits as one of the top teams in the Western Conference. Their rivals have shown that they cannot handle the ducks. We expect to enter the post season as the top team in the Pacific division and continue that strong play throughout the post season. While we have had some injuries, we look to enter the playoffs at full strength, and should have no problem handling any opponents.

2) We have the deepest team in the league. We roll 4 forward lines which all contain skill both offensively and defensively. We have the strongest top 4 defensemen in the league, with a bottom pairing that rivals many teams’ 2nd pairing. We receive world class goaltending from our Tandem. Tristan Jarry has solidified himself as a top ten goalie in this league, while Malcolm Subban continues to be a reliable relief goaltender.

3) The progress that Jakob Chychrun, Mikey Anderson, and Scott Laughton have made throughout this season. Jakob has turned a new leaf in his development, especially offensively, this season. He has become a superstar for the Powerplay unit and an offensive presence on the blue line. In the post-season, making powerplays count is more important than ever, and Jakob has shown a scoring touch to help us convert more often. Mikey has shown he is a reliable defender and we hope to continue to see his progress as a top 4 defender for our team’s future. Scott has emerged as a great 2-way centre, giving us one of the strongest 3rd line centres in the league. He has the defensive play, physicality, and scoring touch to shine in the playoffs.

4) The organization is proud of all of our players. We do not wish to ship out anyone who has helped us get here. Everyone that has played for us is part of our championship run and deserves to share in the glory of winning the Stanley Cup. We also have an abundance of talent coming up through the ranks. Prospects playing in junior leagues and overseas, as well as players in the AHL soon to make the leap. We will not mortgage our future for a rental for a cup run.

5) Finally, as all General Managers in the RHL eventually realize, the STHS program doesn’t seem to make any sense when it comes to who wins. Adding additional firepower to a roster that is already clicking may do more harm than help. With the chemistry that the team has developed throughout the first three quarters of the season, it seems like shaking up the team is the last thing Anaheim needs. Ducks fly together!
