Pain for Kane

2021-08-03

The entire hockey world is still reeling over the betting allegations of Evander Kane's estranged wife. Internally the team is busy keeping him focused on the season ahead, even asking new veteran acquisition Tom Wilson to play a key mentorship role. "Being a younger squad, they may not necessarily have guys that can provide leadership. I want to help kaner ignore the background noise and use his anger on the ice" said Wilson with a big cheesy grin.

Allegations are not pretty. The ex claims Kaner bet on his own games with bookies and then performed accordingly. If true, this can lead to an expulsion from the league. One of the greatest baseball players ever in Pete Rose, what a player Pete was. So yes, Pete Rose, he was kicked out of the league for betting, and then hall of fame. Crazy story that I'm sure no one knows about.

As it is with most controversies these days, some fans are asking for head. One Edmonton blogger even went as far as to say removing Kane from the roster is best for the development of youngsters like Lafreniere and Denisenko. It's quite a bit of noise for Kane over the past few years, and some do have a valid question of whether it's worth it.

Gm OilCountry is hopeful though that by adding proven winners like Wilson and Killorn the team will remain relatively controversy free on the ice. Adding more size and strength is never a bad idea, especially when it comes with scoring. The Oilers are expected to be big, fast and mean. And that's something you can bet on.

Also, we can now have an updated look at the Oilers developing roster:

Evander Kane - Tomas Hertl - David Perron
Alex Killorn - Chandler Stephenson - Tom Wilson
Robby Fabbri - X - Alexis Lafreniere
X - X - X

Shea Theodore - Jeff Petry
Jake Muzzin - Matt Grzelcyk
Dmitry Orlov - Andreas Borgman

Juuse Saros
Thomas Greiss

In recent days, some Edmonton beat writers have put out articles criticizing management for moving too many young players so far over the course of the off season. Moving several notable high upside youngsters like Drysdale, Gurianov, Foerster, among others, the team has been taking on older players. Having said that, GM OilCountry is determined in his vision:

"Albertans make me sick. Last season they wanted my head chopped off because I sold off at the deadline, now they're pissy because I traded their favorite 17 year old. The guy can't even drink yet! Where is Yakupov now smart guys! Now get this camera out of my fa"

We later managed to run into Evander Kane himself for a comment: "Yea, uhhh what you want me to say? Don't get married is all I can say cause women be crazy. But my mind is on the Oil man, I'm here to light the lamp and spend more on the drip. By the way who you like in baseball tonight?"
