Playoff Post-Mortem, Anaheim Ducks

2022-05-26

Series Summary

After trading the first four games back and forth, the Coyotes win back-to-back to take the series in six and ground the Ducks, including a game 5 OT winner from Derek Grant.

Who Showed Up

Patrice Bergeron (3G / 9A) led the team in scoring, while Bryan Rust (7G / 4A) led the team in goals.

Who Didn’t

Second liner Shane Pinto only contributed a pair of points these playoffs, both coming in the first round (though his OT goal in game 6 was the one to propel the team to the second round). The only time his name was on the scoresheet in the second round was for a hooking penalty late in game 6, one which gave the Coyotes the powerplay on which they scored the goal to make it 3-1 and end the Ducks’ season.

Offseason Preview: UFA

Roman Josi is the obvious name here, but at 31 it will be interesting to see if the Ducks are willing to commit to him longterm.

Offseason Preview: Entry Draft

Despite trading this year’s first to acquire Bryan Rust from the Islanders last June, the Ducks own 10 picks for the upcoming draft. Their first selection will come in the latter half of the second round with Minnesota’s 2nd.

Offseason Preview: Expansion Draft
