Western Conference Final Recap

Western Final

Wininpeg Jets - 4 @ Arizona Coyotes - 2

  • Series tied 2-2

With a statement win in Game 4, the Winnipeg Jets reminded everyone their President Tropy winning regular season wasn't a fluke.

The Jets came into Arizona down in the series 2-0, but with two wins in Glendale now find themselves with home-ice advantage in a now best-of-three series.

Vincent Trocheck opened the scoring to give the Jets a 1-0 lead after 20. David Pastrnak would score just his third goal of the postseason early in the 2nd period to double their lead. However, the Coyotes would respond with goals from Conor Sheary and Mathieu Perreault to tie things up.

Enter Mikko Rantanen. The RHL regular season scoring leader would score his 8th goal of the playoffs late in the period to put the Jets up 3-2. It would hold up as the game winner. Rantanen leads the Jets with 4 game-winning goals through 16 playoff games, after having 6 through 82 regular season games.

Trocheck would score an insurance marker, and his second of the game, for the Jets in the third. With an assist on Pastrnak's goal, he would finish the night with three points.

With his goal in the second period, Conor Sheary now has goals in every game in the series along with an assist.

The Jets will hope they can maintain their offense when they return to Winnipeg where they lost both game. Meanwhile, Arizona hopes Connor Hellebuyck will regain the form that has gotten them 2 wins from a trip to the Cup Final.
